We are currently seeking a NSW Business Development Engineer to join our Team within the Civil Division at Freyssinet Australia.

This role will see you taking accountability across estimating, tender preparation & submission, including methodology, preliminary program, and completion of other relevant documentation.

This opportunity will see you supporting the NSW Business Development Manager by taking ownership of projects, including the client relationships while achieving effective costing of projects to secure projects that meet the pricing and commercial strategy and win work that is profitable.

In terms of responsibilities, you will be:



  • Managing initial assessment of tenders received to determine the size and scope of the project. Source all additional information as required from the client. Provide a summary of the project to the NSW BD Manager, including SOW, estimated project size, risks, and opportunities.
  •  Preparation of tender estimates using a combination of first principle methods, material take-offs, bill of quantities, cost studies, existing productivity rates, and similar tender submissions.
  • Building internal relationships and utilise nationwide resources, including design, engineering, construction, and other estimating personnel, as required to promote the best solution for tenders.
  • Liaise with clients and attend site meetings during the tender stage to determine all requirements to prepare tender estimates and submissions, as determined by the NSW BD Manager.
  • Prepare and issue fit-for-purpose RFQs to sub-contractors and/or suppliers.
  • Preparation of proposed methodology (in collaboration with BD & Operations), proposed construction program, and all other relevant documentation necessary for the tender submission.
  • Itemise risk, opportunities, and tender qualifications.
  • Follow up on the tender submission to determine the tender status and maintain a record of the discussion.
  • Ensure that tender files are kept in good order, and all current details are recorded.
  • Prepare and issue review documents and coordinate review documents.
  • Attend and manage handover meetings with the operations team, including preparing handover documents and job folders.
  • Secure projects with good quality and competitively priced tender documents.
  • Support the NSW BD team in securing work that is profitable in line with yearly sales targets.



What will connect you to this role:

·       Bachelor of Civil Engineering or relevant qualifications

·       Minimum 3-5 years' experience in Estimating and Business Development within the construction industry

·       Knowledge of Bridge construction techniques, post-tensioning, and heavy lifting is essential.

·       Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required to build ongoing relationships with contractors and consultants

·       Must be curious about new construction techniques and loves coming up with bespoke solutions for problems

·       Must have a strong understanding of contractual terms, state, and contract specifications

·       Strong attention to detail and strong mathematical and IT skills
